How to Replace the Starter Motor on a Land Rover Defender

Model: Land Rover Defender MK 6 - Years 1990-2016

Before you begin, open the hood of your Land Rover Defender. Start by disconnecting the battery terminals by removing the securing bolts. Next, remove the exhaust manifold by unscrewing the corresponding bolts. After that, unscrew and remove the bolts that secure the starter motor to its housing. This will free the starter motor itself. At this point, disconnect the electrical connector, then pull the starter motor out of the engine compartment, and the disassembly will be complete. To install the new starter motor, simply follow these steps in reverse, and the replacement will be finished.
