This video shows the DIY repair of the tailgate release spring on the Land Rover Freelander I, produced from 1997 to 2006. For this model, no workaround was designed to open the tailgate if it became stuck, so the YouTuber had to completely remove the rear trim panel.

Then, through the bodywork holes, they identified the stuck mechanism of the handle release.

To prevent further issues in the future (as this is quite an old vehicle), they decided to connect a wire that will remain protruding from the upholstery when it is replaced, allowing the handle to be unlocked if necessary.
