First, lift the vehicle and start draining the engine oil; to do this, remove the drain plug located on the oil pan, allowing it to drain into a container for about ten minutes. At this point, open the hood and use a socket wrench with an extension to unscrew the oil filter; replace the cartridge with a new one and refill with new engine oil!
