Let's see how to dismantle and clean the EGR valve from a Mercedes OM651 engine: start by removing the air filter: disconnect the electrical connectors from the filter box, unscrew the screws, and remove the cover; disconnect the flexible hoses leading to the intake manifold, unscrew the screws securing the aluminium ducts to remove them.

Partially drain the coolant level in the expansion tank (below the EGR level) to avoid leaks and disconnect the two coolant hoses connected to the EGR cooler.

Identify and unscrew all the screws securing the cooler and the EGR valve to the engine, disconnect the electrical connectors: once free, extract the entire valve + cooler assembly.
