Scheduled Maintenance for the Mercedes A-Class 180 CDI

To perform the scheduled maintenance on the vehicle, follow these steps: open the hood and locate the oil filter, which is on the upper part of the engine bay, next to the oil dipstick. Loosen the oil filter cap and open the cap for topping off the oil. Raise the vehicle and locate the drain plug of the oil reservoir. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the plug, making sure to place a container on the floor to catch the used oil. Wait for all the oil to drain out and then reinstall the plug. Go back to the engine bay, remove the oil filter, and replace it along with the gasket; reposition the filter cap and screw it back on. Next, fill the system with new oil and check the level. On the upper part of the engine bay near the windshield in the center, there is a plastic cover that needs to be unlatched and lifted. Inside is the cabin filter, which should be cleaned or replaced. To replace the engine air filter, unscrew the support screws of the engine control unit, lift the unit under which the filter is located. Finally, to replace the spark plugs, you need to disassemble the entire assembly containing the filter and remove the air connection hose. This will allow access to the spark plugs. Unclip the ignition coils and, using a 16 mm wrench, unscrew them to install the new ones.
