The secondary air pump plays a fundamental role in the cold start phase where a richer motorcycle mixture is injected and the lambda probe has not yet reached the right temperature to regulate the emissions: to avoid the formation of too many unburned hydrocarbons, the air pump secondary blows air behind the exhaust valves to generate post combustion and reduce emissions; on the Mercedes engine it is located right in the center of the front and removing it is absolutely simple: in fact, it is enough to disconnect the power socket and unscrew the pins of the fixing bracket.
