How to Change Engine Oil and Oil Filter on an Opel Astra.

In this video tutorial, see how to change the engine oil and oil filter on an Opel Astra J. The first step is to lift the bonnet and secure it with the appropriate prop. Raise the car with a hydraulic jack and place axle stands underneath. Position a container under the vehicle to collect the used oil. Undo the drain plug counterclockwise with a T45 Torx key and wait for all the oil to drain into the container. While waiting for the oil to fully drain, remove the oil filter by undoing the cover that holds the cartridge with a 24 mm socket and extension; turn the key counterclockwise until the cover is completely undone. Remove the oil filter and replace it with a new one, along with a new seal (do not overtighten, 25 Nm). Refit the drain plug (tighten to 14 Nm) and top up the engine oil (5w-30) with approximately 4 litres of oil.
