This is an extremely common engine, which is mounted not only on Renault, but also on Dacia, Nissan, Suzuki, Mercedes and Infiniti. The most famous problem with this engine is with the bearings, which are not very resistant and give in under stress; stress is caused by poor quality oil, failure to replace the oil, or a drop in oil pump pressure: by changing the lubricant every 10,000 kilometers, you protect yourself from any problems. The versions of the engine produced before 2009 are equipped with the "Delphi" common rail injection system which cannot tolerate a clogged fuel filter and poor diesel, and therefore must be checked more carefully. The turbocharger needs some precautions: do not drive aggressively when cold and do not immediately turn off the engine after a trip, but let the turbocharger cool down by running it at idle for about a minute. This way you will achieve high mileage.
