How to Replace the Thermostat on a Seat Ibiza

Model: Seat Ibiza 6P, 6J - Years 2008-2017

To replace the thermostat on a Seat Ibiza, go under the car and disconnect the coolant hose, placing a container underneath to catch the fluid. Now, move to the top of the engine, and using a spanner, loosen the tension on the belt by adjusting the tensioner pulley. Remove the belt, then use a socket to unscrew the bolts holding the tensioner pulley to the upper hose bracket. Take off the tensioner pulley and unscrew the rear bolts of the alternator, moving it aside. Next, unscrew the bolts holding the coolant hose and remove it; the thermostat has already been removed in the video, but you will find it as soon as you take off the hose. Once the thermostat is removed, position the new thermostat with the new gasket. Now, place the hose back and tighten the bolts. Refit the alternator by inserting the lower rear bolt, then move on to insert the upper bolt and tighten them. Now, position the upper hose bracket with the tensioner pulley and tighten the bolts. Next, fit the timing belt, ensuring it is taut with the tensioner pulley. Finally, reconnect the lower radiator hose and refill the coolant system. Now you can start the car and check the coolant temperature (the video used a device connected to the car's OBD port), also checking the fan operation.
