Skoda Octavia - Video tutorial

Model: Skoda Octavia 1U, MK 1 - Years 1996-2004
Part: Timing belt
Operation: How to replace the timing belt on Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi

To change the timing belt of the Skoda Octavia 1.9 Tdi, we operate as follows: in the video the engine has been disassembled and placed on a special trolley for engines. The accessories used in the video are the following: Belt kit with water pump (code ct1044 wp1), torsional vibration damper (code vd1089), assembly set (code ms17), special tools (tool box code v01). We start by removing the valve cover, turn the engine by hand until the markings of the crankshaft coincide so that the engine goes to its dead center, we insert a stop pin in the injection pump and a template in the camshaft. Now we loosen the gear wheel of the injection pump by removing the stop pin and unscrew the screws using the counter support. After having correctly set the timing, we block the injection pump again, we loosen the toothed belt by acting on the nut of the tensioner roller. After disassembling the belt, we remove the camshaft template at the top, we loosen the related toothed wheel (to remove it from the cone we need a puller). Now let's move on to replacing the components. To fit the new tensioner roller, pay attention to the nose, which must be positioned in the slot at the top. Once all the new components present in the kit have been assembled, we proceed to install the toothed belt, not before having positioned the injection pump wheel in a central position with respect to the slots. Now we mount the toothed belt in an anticlockwise direction, starting from the crankshaft, passing through the toothed wheel of the injection pump, finally above that of the camshaft that we insert in position together with the belt. Camshaft belt and sprocket are mounted. We first tighten the screw of the toothed wheel by hand, after tensioning the belt, we will tighten it with the prescribed torque: to tighten the belt, use the two-tooth wrench on the eccentric of the belt tensioner roller, tighten it clockwise until the groove and tongue of the roller do not coincide, we remove all the locking tools, then we fix the camshaft sprocket with the required torque and tighten the 3 screws of the injection pump, turn the engine 2 revolutions and check the timing again. If we have adjusted everything correctly we can reassemble the toothed belt cover and then the vibration damper. For the assembly of the new vibration damper it is necessary to pay attention to its particular position: on the damper we have 4 holes, 1 of the 4 is larger and we find a small pin in the lower part of the crankshaft wheel, for a correct assembly the hole large must coincide with the pin, otherwise it could happen that the gearwheel could wobble and the operation is finished.

How to open the Fiat Panda petrol tank flap

In this video we proceed to the explanation, also verbal, of the technical operation of the opening and closing of the petrol tank cap. With the ignition on, the fuel cap, or rather the fuel filler flap, is open and therefore accessible. When trying to turn off the aforementioned ignition and then lock the car with the key, it is assumed that the petrol door, as well as the doors of the car, are closed, but this is not the case, in fact the latter in practice always remains open. Ultimately, you can access the fuel tank whether the car is closed or open.
