Changing the engine oil on a Subaru XV? Here’s how to change the oil along with the engine filter. Open the car door and pull up the engine bay release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, then lift the front bonnet. Unscrew the large securing bolt of the container cap where the oil filter is located, and remove the worn oil filter. Lift the car with a jack and unscrew the bolt from the oil sump; let the fluid drain into a container. Install a new oil filter in the engine bay, top up with new fluid, and close the front bonnet.
