Replacing the Auxiliary Belt and Water Pump on a Toyota Aygo

For the 1.0 petrol engine of this model equipped with a timing chain, the water pump, alternator, and air conditioning compressor are driven by an auxiliary belt from the crankshaft pulley. To replace the water pump, lift the vehicle and remove the front right wheel, securing it with a suitable jack. Remove the wheel arch cover and locate the water pump above the air conditioning compressor, behind the alternator. The auxiliary belt does not have a tensioner but is kept tensioned by an adjustment bolt on the alternator. Loosen this bolt, slide off the auxiliary belt, remove and replace the water pump, then install a new auxiliary belt, ensuring it is properly tensioned.
