To change the oil and oil filter on the Toyota 4Runner, start by raising the front of the vehicle on the right side; remove the front skid plate using a 12 mm socket wrench (the video shows a TRD plate, which has bolts that require a 14 mm socket); remove the cover by unscrewing the bolts with a 12 mm socket to access the oil drain plug; remove the oil fill cap to allow the oil to drain properly, then unscrew the oil drain plug with a 14 mm socket, letting the oil drain into a container; after draining the oil, replace the drain plug gasket, clean its seating area, and reattach it using a torque wrench (torque specification 30 ft-lbs); using a specific wrench, unscrew the lower oil filter plug and insert a nozzle to drain the oil from the filter into a container; take the adapter to unscrew the oil filter with a socket wrench, removing it along with the filter from its seating; now take the new oil filter assembly with accessories, insert the new outer gasket (apply some new oil around it) and the new oil filter, then screw the filter housing with the adapter (tightening with the socket wrench), the new lower gasket, and the lower plug, tightening it with a specific wrench; now go to the engine, insert a funnel into the oil fill hole, pour in the specified quarts from the manufacturer, and when you are close to the indicated quarts, start the engine, let it run for a few minutes, and then turn it off; now return under the vehicle to reattach the cover for the oil drain plug, tightening the 2 bolts with a 12 mm socket and the front skid plate by tightening the bolts with a 14 mm socket (for the one in the video, otherwise for the original one, the bolts are tightened with a 12 mm socket); now you can lower the vehicle, check the oil level (the level should be checked the second time you pull out the dipstick), and if necessary, top off the oil; otherwise, the operation is complete.
