Let’s look at the causes of an irregular idle: if there is a misfire, a cylinder may not be burning well or not burning at all, and the causes could be attributed to the spark plugs, their cables, the coils, clogged injectors, or the fuel filter. Symptoms include vibrations and a flashing engine light. If instead, you experience a fluctuating idle with poor fuel mixture, the cause could be broken hoses or deteriorated gaskets. In the case of the video, these are intake problems: incoming air is not measured correctly or is obstructed. Clearly, the cause is a dirty or clogged air filter, and the MAF (Mass Air Flow) or MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensors could be faulty, as well as a dirty throttle body or a clogged EGR valve.
