When Does Start-Stop Activate?

The start-stop system allows the engine to shut off when stopped at traffic lights or in traffic, aiming to reduce fuel consumption. To restart the engine, simply press the clutch for a manual vehicle or release the brake for an automatic vehicle. The system is disabled when the engine has not yet reached its operating temperature. In vehicles with start-stop, both the battery and starter motor are subjected to greater stress, so these components are upgraded in this type of vehicle.
