Operation: Some common issues with the TD5 Land Rover engine that can be easily fixed.

The first thing to do is to check that the screw holding the oil pump gear is correctly positioned; in fact, in several examples, this has not been done, with the consequences that we can imagine, and which can also be very serious. Furthermore, in Euro 3 engines, the threadlocker is not present on the front plate of the air conditioning compressor; over time, this causes the front plate of the air conditioning compressor to fall off. It can happen that we lose it on the road, but if we are unlucky, it can get stuck in the belt or impact the radiator. Here too, we will have to check that the belt has a good seal and replace it if necessary. Other issues: the wiring of the injectors is affected by an assembly error, so the connector may be oil-soaked; we will have to clean it well, but to solve it definitively, it will be necessary to replace the wiring. The last thing is the centrifugal filter - a peculiarity that exists only in this engine - which is rarely replaced for this reason, while it should be changed more frequently than the normal oil filter.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
