Replace the oil pump belt on a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI EA288.

Replacing the oil pump belt on an EA288 engine is a huge job, and absolutely not recommended for DIY. Essentially, to change that small belt, it is necessary to dismantle half of the machine and touch the timing belt. We have to remove the service belt, a large part of the mechanics, the timing belt, only to discover that there is no space to remove the oil pump belt, so we also have to remove the oil pan, drain the engine oil, remove all the bolts of the pan, detach it breaking the seal, and finally we can remove the belt and replace it. Now everything needs to be reassembled; reseal and reassemble the oil pan (a very delicate operation to avoid leaks), reassemble the timing belt, reassemble all mechanical components, top up all fluids. It is clear that it is not a job, but a project, and requires hours of work from an experienced mechanic; it requires specific equipment, maximum competence in timing and sealing. The money spent on a specialized workshop, in this case, will never be regretted.
