How to Reset the Volkswagen DSG Gearbox

Let’s see how to reset a Volkswagen DSG gearbox to address issues such as jerking or slow shifts. Turn on the ignition, press the accelerator pedal to the kick-down point (press until you hear a metallic "click"), and hold it for 30 to 40 seconds. You should hear a second click or feel a slight movement from the gearbox area, indicating that the reset has started: release the pedal, the gearbox has erased the old driving habits and will begin the new adaptation. On some models, the second click may not be audible; in this case, after 40 seconds, release the pedal and turn off the ignition. The reset has still occurred. This operation works best if the gearbox and engine are at operating temperature.
