Location of the Battery on a Volkswagen Touareg

An interesting design feature of the Volkswagen Touareg is that the battery is not located in the engine bay, nor in the boot, but inside the cabin. In the case we are looking at, it is under the driver's seat, but depending on the year of manufacture or the specification, it can also be positioned under the passenger seat. The reason for this choice is increased protection from the elements, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations. Additionally, this arrangement provides more space in the engine bay, better weight distribution, and improved safety in the event of an accident. To access the battery, slide the seat, lift the cover plate, disconnect the negative terminal first and then the positive, replace the battery, and then reassemble everything in reverse order.
