Oil Filter Replacement on a Volkswagen Golf

Replacing the oil filter on a VW Jetta? Let's look at removing the oil filter in the engine bay. Open the car's door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, then lift the front bonnet and secure it. Use a socket wrench to unscrew the large fastening bolt of the container cap where the oil filter is located. Remove the worn oil filter and position a new one. Lift the car on a jack and unscrew the bolt of the oil sump; allow the fluid to drain into a container. Refill the engine with new oil.
