How to remove the EGR valve from the Volkswagen Golf 6?

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 6, Golf VI, Golf 6, 5K1 - Years 2008-2012

To remove the EGR valve from the Volkswagen Golf 6, open the bonnet to access the engine compartment and remove the upper engine cover; once this is removed, disconnect the hoses connected to the air filter box by removing the retaining rings. This will allow access to the valve located at the front of the engine. By freeing it from the intake manifold and exhaust manifold, the EGR valve can be removed from its housing and possibly replaced with a new spare part.
