How to Replace the Windscreen Wiper Pump on the Volkswagen Jetta

Model: Volkswagen Jetta A4, MK 4 - Years 1998-2005

After opening the engine bay, identify the windscreen washer reservoir and the position of the pump. Position a sufficiently large container underneath the car to collect the water from the reservoir. Disconnect the power connector of the wiper pump by prying it off with a small screwdriver. Remove the rubber hose from the pump outlet and cover its discharge with a finger to prevent excessive water spillage. Remove the wiper pump from the reservoir, ensuring the new replacement has the rubber seal already installed; pull the old wiper pump upwards and immediately install the new one by pressing it into place. Reconnect both the rubber hose for the washer and the electrical connector for the pump.
