Instructions for dismantling the alternator

Model: Volkswagen Transporter MK 2, T2 - Years 1967-1979

Before proceeding with the alternator removal, disconnect the battery terminals to avoid accidental short circuits and position the vehicle on a lift, as it will be necessary to work from underneath. Start by removing the engine air filter box, then proceed to dismantle the metal protection covers located in front of and below the alternator (there is an air deflector at the bottom). Unscrew the fastening bolts of the alternator to allow it to slide on the belt adjustment slots and remove the belt. Finally, free the wiring from the grommet and extract the alternator.
