Disassembling Key Remote and Replacing the Battery

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

Is your car remote not working anymore? It’s possible the battery is dead; let’s see how to replace it in no time.
Open the metal flip key and focus on this side of the remote. Insert a flathead screwdriver right in the centre and lever it as shown in the guide, detach the lower part of the remote, pull it out, and insert the screwdriver into the slot of the cover, gently prying to release the clips and remove it.
Now we can proceed to replace the battery found inside the cover we just removed and reassemble everything.
The video also shows how to disassemble the various other parts, including the flip mechanism of the key. This procedure is also valid for other Volkswagen models such as Jetta, Bora, Passat, New Beetle, Phaeton, and Eos.
