Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial
Model: Volkswagen Golf
MK 4, Golf IV, Golf 4
- Years 1997-2003 To find the ECU (Engine Control Unit) on Volkswagen Golf 4, open the bonnet and remove the screws on the plastic grille at the base of the windscreen. Then remove the two windscreen wipers. Now, using a lever, carefully lift the plastic grill from the edges to remove it completely. You will notice, more or less in the middle of the windscreen, at the bottom, two electrical connectors. At this point it is advisable to disconnect the battery to avoid damage to the control unit. Use a flat tip screwdriver to disconnect the two connectors. The control unit can now be removed from its housing.
