Check Water Pump Malfunction

Model: Volkswagen New Beetle MK 2, 9C - Years 1999-2012

If the coolant temperature rises above the limit, there may be a circulation problem caused by a malfunctioning pump. You can quickly check this by disconnecting the return hose from the radiator header tank and seeing if liquid comes out. If no liquid flows from the hose, first check for blockages in the hose and the thermostat valve. If everything is clear, the problem is likely with the water pump, as you will find the plastic impeller broken when you remove it.
