Removing Front Brake Discs

Model: Volkswagen Jetta MK 5, A5 - Years 2005-2010

To remove the front brake discs, start by loosening the wheel bolts before lifting the vehicle and placing it on suitable axle stands to complete the wheel removal; if the brake pads do not need replacing, you can remove the caliper along with its support: leverage between the disc and pads to slightly retract the piston and proceed to remove the bolts securing the caliper support, taking care not to pinch the brake fluid hose; at this point, you can unscrew the disc fixing screw on the hub and remove it; clean and lubricate the disc seat on the hub and refit the disc after having it skimmed: this operation can only be performed if the disc thickness is still within specification after skimming; additionally, when skimming the discs, it is advisable to install a new set of pads.
