How to Change the Key Battery in the VW Passat

If the locks do not activate when pressing the buttons on the remote, it is likely that the internal battery (CR 2032) has run out; replacing it is straightforward as the battery compartment is protected by the semi-shell of the key cover; simply lever in the designated slot between the two plastic halves of the remote to release the opposite side to the button compartment; once the shell is removed, the battery is immediately visible and can be extracted to insert the new one, ensuring the correct orientation and cleaning the contacts.
