Replacing the Engine Oil Filter

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

Using a ratchet spanner, gently unscrew the oil filter by turning the nut on top and remove it from its seat. Empty the residual oil from the container and filter into a tray. Clean the inside of the filter thoroughly with a cloth. Replace the rubber seal on the container. Install a new cartridge of the same type as the old one. Refit the oil filter, ensuring it is screwed on correctly, and top up with new oil if necessary. Do not dispose of used oil in the environment; take it to designated collection centres.
