Replacement of Rear Wheel Half Shaft

Model: Volvo S70 MK 1 - Years 1996-2000
Part: Axle shaft

Necessary tools: 18 and 19 mm socket spanner, a 5 mm Allen key, a T-47 Torx key, screwdriver set, large hammer. Obtain a replacement half shaft. Lift the vehicle on a ramp and remove the wheel. Remove the brake caliper and bracket to free the shaft. Remove the brake disc. Apply penetrating oil to the bolts securing the shock absorber and unscrew them. Also remove the bracket under the shock absorber's wing and free it from the arm. Remove the bracket under the vehicle's body that holds the half shaft. Now you can extract the half shaft. Remove the disc support and insert the new half shaft into the differential, then refit the bracket under the body. Refit the disc, brake caliper, shock absorber, and the wheel.
