To reset the Service light on a Volvo V40, turn on the ignition to navigate through the menu displayed on the instrument cluster: specifically, find the option indicating the messages stored in the onboard computer. When this screen is reached, press and hold the OK button on the left stalk of the steering wheel and the button to start the car: this will display an 'i' on the instrument cluster, confirming the reset.

You will notice that the maintenance interval has been reset by scrolling through the menu options.
