To replace the timing belt on a Volvo V40, you need to open the bonnet to access the components located inside the engine bay. On the left side, remove some obstructing components such as the air filter and the windscreen washer reservoir to access the side of the engine block.

Here, there will be a protective panel that needs to be removed by loosening its fastening screws; some screws will be accessible by removing the right front wheel and the corresponding wheel arch.

At this point, loosen the central nut of the tensioner pulley, remove the belt itself, and install a new replacement part.
