How to Clean the EGR Valve on a BMW 3 Series

To clean the EGR valve on a BMW 3 Series, turn off the engine and wait for it to cool. Open the hood, remove the engine cover, and clear any intake ducts that obstruct access to the EGR. Disconnect the vacuum hose and loosen the clamp on the hose connected to the valve. Then, remove the bolts that attach the EGR to the manifold and the exhaust gas duct, and take it out of the engine. Spray a specific EGR and intake cleaning product on the sooty areas and let it sit. Gently remove the deposits with a brush or soft bristle, avoiding damage to the mechanism. Dry the valve, check that the passage is clear, and reinstall it using gaskets in good condition. Reconnect the hoses and ducts and reinstall the engine cover.
