How to Replace the EGR Valve Thermostat on a BMW E90

This guide shows how to replace the EGR valve thermostat on a BMW E90. First, open the hood and remove the engine cover. Next, drain the coolant and disconnect the battery. Then, detach the air duct, remove the radiator fan and hoses to expose the valve. Now, remove the valve's feed pipe. You can then take out the thermostat pipe and the EGR mounting bolts. Finally, clean the water pump. Reassemble the EGR valve in reverse order of disassembly.
