How to Perform a Full Service on a BMW 1 Series 118d

In this video tutorial, you will see how to perform a full service on a BMW 1 Series 118d. The first thing to do is purchase: a cabin filter, an air filter, a fuel filter, an oil filter, and the appropriate engine oil for this type of vehicle: 5 litres of SAE 5W-30 (see the specifications in the owner's manual). Lift the vehicle using a hydraulic jack and place axle stands and a tyre underneath for safety. Using a 17mm spanner, remove the sump plug, placing a container underneath to collect the used oil and wait for all the oil to drain out. In the engine bay, remove the oil filter using a 27mm socket; once the old oil filter is removed, position the new one and tighten the oil container using a torque wrench to 25Nm. Now, you need to replace the fuel filter, so remove the filter cover held by 8mm screws; once the cover is detached, remove the fuel filter using a 13mm spanner and replace it with the new one along with the new seal. Finally, refit the sump plug and top up with 5 litres of oil using a funnel. Bleed the fuel filter by simply getting inside the vehicle and starting the engine. Replace the air and cabin filters.
