Complete Replacement of Factory Speakers

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

Lower the window of the door and unscrew the screw located in the opening handle area. Unscrew the screw located in the side tunnel. Using a plastic tool, pry between the body and the door trim until it lifts. Gently lift the plastic trim starting from the bottom, releasing all clips using the plastic tool. With your fingers, also release the clips at the top until you remove the entire assembly, being careful of the speaker wires. Disconnect the connector from the control unit and unscrew all screws holding the speaker assembly in place. Unscrew the four screws securing the original speaker located under the gasket. Remove the speaker and the wires connected to it. Insulate the terminals with a wrap of electrical tape and gently tighten them with pliers. Connect the terminals to the new speaker and secure it in place using the four screws. Remove the protective paper from the new gasket and position it around the speaker. Reinstall the speaker assembly in the door and reconnect the connector. Remove the trim from the door pillar and replace the tweeter with the new one.
