Replacing the MAF Sensor on the BMW 1 Series

To replace the sensor on the BMW 1 Series, open the bonnet of the engine compartment, locate the sensor positioned on the pipe exiting the air filter housing, disconnect the pipe that passes over it from the retaining clips, and using a small flathead screwdriver, remove the electrical connector.

Using a Torx screwdriver, unscrew the two screws that secure the sensor body to the fitting and pull it out. Take the new sensor, check its compatibility with the old one, and insert it into its housing.

Screw in the two screws, reattach the pipe to the clips, and reconnect the electrical connector.
