Replacing the Fuel Pump on the Citroen C1 (also on Toyota Aygo and Peugeot 107)

Let's see how to change the fuel pump on a Citroen C1. The same procedure applies to the Toyota Aygo and Peugeot 107, which share the same chassis. You can find the pump for replacement on AliExpress with code 1005005871470151 at a price of £34.59, with delivery in 3 days costing £24.66. It's ideal to have the fuel tank as empty as possible. First, you need to relieve the fuel pressure, and the simplest way is to remove the fuse related to the pump itself, consulting the user manual. With the fuse removed, start the engine: it will not start because the fuel pump is missing, but let it run for 5-10 seconds to relieve the pressure. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and remove the rear seat; you will see a plastic panel shaped like a hatch secured with screws. Remove the panel and underneath you will find a locking ring holding the pump module. Insert the new pump, replacing the gasket; hand-tighten the locking ring, reconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines, replace the panel and rear seat, reconnect the battery, replace the fuse, insert the key and turn it without starting the engine. You will hear the pump activate to pressurise the system. Start the engine, which may take a few seconds longer than usual.
