How do you replace the battery on the Ford S Max? The first step, after opening the bonnet, is to remove the air filter to access the battery compartment. To remove the air filter, unscrew the screw that secures the pipe bringing air from outside to the engine and the two screws holding the brake fluid reservoir in place. Once done, you can access the battery. To remove the battery, first take off the cover and then unscrew the two brackets that secure the battery to the floor. Unscrew the two terminals from the positive and negative poles and remove the battery from its compartment. Now insert the new battery and reassemble everything as before.
