To replace the timing belt on a Ford S-Max, open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine compartment. On the left side of the engine block, locate the cover for the camshaft pulleys, which needs to be removed.

After removing this cover, loosen the bolts securing the right front wheel, remove it along with the inner cover of its wheel arch. This will allow you to loosen the central nut of the crankshaft pulley, reducing the tension on the belt and replacing it with a new one.
