Installing the DPF Emulator Control Unit

Often, clogging of the DPF filter triggers the check engine light and limits performance: you can eliminate the filter by replacing it with an appropriate pipe and emulate the filter signals with a control unit. Open the hood and ensure it is securely supported. Then remove the plastic engine protection cover and locate the connector attached to the rail, which is at the rear of the engine: create a bypass by connecting the emulator connectors. At this point, use a probe to route the other emulator wires to the DPF sensor located under the vehicle, near the differential: it is recommended to lift the vehicle on a lift and remove the splash shield. Again, create a bypass by connecting the DPF sensor connector to the wiring of the emulator. Then locate the three temperature sensors (thermocouples) and disconnect the original wiring from the temperature probes: the connector attached to the thermocouple has two wires (one is ground and the other is the signal): use a multimeter to identify the two wires. Once you have located the signal wire, cut it and connect it to the emulator wires as per the attached diagram, properly insulating the joints and reconnecting the thermocouple connector: proceed in the same manner for the other two thermocouples. Return to the engine compartment and remove the battery cover, connect the ground wire of the emulator to the negative terminal of the battery, and finally connect the emulator control unit, ensuring it is positioned correctly. Once all connections are made, you will need to remove the DPF and replace it with the supplied pipes.
