What to do if the car doesn't start but the battery is fine

Not completely, because the fact that the lights turn on does not exclude the possibility that the battery charge may not be sufficient to start the starter motor. But let's say we are sure that the battery is fully charged. The first thing to check is - if we have a car with automatic transmission, that it is in neutral or in park. Sometimes the gear may not have been properly engaged and the car thinks it is in gear, so it does not accept starting. Also, when we try to start, do we hear only one click from the starter motor? It could be a stuck relay: we will need to identify it with the help of the owner's manual and try to replace it with another identical one, like the one for the air conditioning. Furthermore: let's try to touch, if reachable, the starter motor with a wrench or a stick. A small touch is enough to unlock the brushes of the starter motor. Then, still check the battery: even if it is in good condition, a loose or corroded terminal can prevent it from functioning properly; when cleaning, never use metallic materials, which could cause a short circuit, but only plastic spatulas. A final piece of advice is to try using the spare key. If none of these tips work, then the problem is the starter motor, or a deep wiring issue, and you will need a mechanic.
