Replacement of Engine Oil and Oil Filter

Model: Mazda 6 GG, MK 1 - Years 2002-2008

Lift the car and secure it with suitable supports so that it cannot fall. The necessary tools are a ratchet spanner, a set of fixed spanners, a special tool for removing the filter, and a large container for collecting the oil. Place the container under the engine to collect the oil. Unscrew the oil plug on the oil sump and let it drain. Use the special tool to unscrew the filter and remove the cartridge. Replace the used filter cartridge with a new one and refit the filter. Also, replace the copper washer on the oil plug and that of the filter. Close the oil plug, refit the oil filter, and top up with new oil, checking the level using the dipstick. Do not dispose of used oil in the environment; take it to the appropriate collection centres.
