How to Remove the Electric Steering Lock of the Mercedes C-Class W204

If the steering wheel is locked and you cannot start the engine, it means there is a failure in the electric steering lock located at the rear of the steering column, facing the windshield and not the pedal area. You will need to disassemble the column to access it. Start by disconnecting the airbag, then remove the steering wheel (mark the position with a marker for straight wheels) and then the light switch assembly. Remove the trim around the instrument cluster to access the fastening pins of the steering column. To complete the extraction, you will need to remove the fastening pin of the universal joint to the steering box pinion.
