How to change the engine oil and filter of the Peugeot 208

To change the engine oil and oil filter on the Peugeot 208, work with the car on a flat surface and in safety, preferably with the engine warm. Turn off the engine, open the hood, and prepare a large container for the used oil, gloves, and rags. If you need to work from underneath, lift the car properly and support it on jack stands: avoid working with just a jack. Under the vehicle, locate the oil pan and the drain plug. Position the container and unscrew the plug with the appropriate tool, allowing the oil to drain completely. When the draining is finished, reattach the plug ensuring that the seal is in good condition and tighten without overdoing it. Next, move on to the oil filter, which in this procedure is of the "screw-on" type (canister). Residual oil may come out when unscrewing it: keep the container in place and remove it with a suitable wrench. Before screwing on the new filter, clean the mating surface on the engine and check that the old gasket has not stuck. Screw on the new filter until it is snug and complete the tightening moderately. From the top, pour the new oil into the filler neck and check the level with the dipstick, proceeding gradually. Start the engine for a few seconds, turn it off, and wait a few minutes, then check the level again and adjust if necessary.
