How to Replace Front Brake Pads on Peugeot 207

Replacing the front brake pads on a Peugeot 207 is a straightforward task that can be done with a few tools and without professional assistance. First, reduce the pressure in the braking system by unscrewing the cap of the brake fluid reservoir located in the engine bay behind the battery. Once done, lift the car on both sides and remove the wheel to access the caliper. The caliper will have a slot on the outer side where you can insert a lever or a large flathead screwdriver to separate the pads from the disc, allowing the pistons to retract into their housing. After this, you will notice a horizontal movement of the outer side of the caliper, and you can proceed to unscrew the two bolts at the rear. This will allow the caliper to open into two parts, giving access to the pads, which are held in place by two metal clips at both ends. At this point, you can remove the old pads and insert the new ones. To avoid annoying squeaks and noises, it is advisable to apply copper grease to the contact points between the caliper and the pad, taking care not to contaminate the friction material. Before reassembling everything, it is also recommended to clean the caliper and all contact surfaces thoroughly.
