Operation: How to replace front brake pads on Peugeot 207

Replacing the front brake pads on Peugeot 207 is a fairly simple operation that can be done easily with a few tools and without the intervention of professionals. First of all it will be necessary to reduce the pressure inside the braking system, to do this it will be sufficient to unscrew the cap of the brake oil reservoir located inside the engine compartment behind the battery seat. Once this is done, the car can be raised on the first two sides and the wheel can be removed to access the caliper, this will be characterized by a slot on the outermost side, inside which it will be possible to insert a lever or a large slotted screwdriver to separate the pads from the disc, thus allowing the pistons to re-enter their seat. Once this is done you will notice a horizontal excursion of the outermost side of the caliper and you can then proceed by unscrewing the two pins on the rear side of the same, this operation will allow the caliper to open in two parts thus giving access to the pads which will be held in position by two metal clips placed at both ends. At this point it will be possible to extract the pads and insert the new ones, to avoid annoying whistles and squeaks before inserting them it is advisable to pass some copper paste in the contact points between the caliper and the pad, taking care not to soil the lining. Before reassembling everything, it is also advisable to thoroughly clean the caliper and all its contact surfaces and after having carried out the work on both sides of the car, it is therefore possible to put the cap back on the brake oil reservoir and you will have to pump the pedal to put the system under pressure again.
