Replacement of the Coolant Reservoir

Model: Porsche 911 996 - Years 1997-2005
Part: Antifreeze coolant

Open the rear hood and ensure it is securely supported: the coolant reservoir is located on the left side. It is recommended to perform this operation with the engine cold. Locate the coolant drain plug under the radiator and unscrew it to allow the fluid to drain; once the draining is complete, screw it back in. To remove the reservoir, first, you need to take off the air intake duct. Unscrew the bolts of the secondary air pump mounting bracket and disconnect the hoses attached to it to move it away. At this point, disconnect the hoses connected to the coolant reservoir, unscrew the respective mounting bolts, and remove it from its seat: to ensure the reservoir is not leaking, pressurize it. Proceed with the installation of the new reservoir after transferring the cap, level sensor, and overflow drain tube from the old one. At the end of the installation, fill the cooling system with antifreeze.
