First, apply the handbrake. Remove the wheel cover and loosen the wheel screws. Raise the car and secure it with a kickstand. Now you can unscrew and remove the wheel. At this point unscrew the support bracket of the brake pipes. We unscrew the screws of the lower support, freeing the shock absorber from the hub with caution so as not to break the cap of the driveshaft. Let's move on to the upper support by memorizing the correct position of the screws before unscrewing them. By loosening the second screw, you will have to hold the shock absorber from underneath. Check that the spare part is compatible with the old one. Now all that remains is to remove the spring. This is an operation to which the utmost attention must be paid as accidental disconnection of the compressor would cause serious damage to oneself or to other people and things. Lubricate the compressor threads. Position the first bracket by slightly compressing the spring. Place the second bracket on the opposite side and begin compressing the spring until you feel some play in the top plate. Remove the cap and unscrew the nut while holding the central screw with a second wrench. Remove the plate and extract the shock absorber, from which you will then remove the bellows boot and the bearing ring at the base of the same. From now on we will proceed in reverse by reinserting the ring nut and the cap on the new piece. Reposition the two plates at the end of the spring and insert the shock absorber. Screw the nuts back on and put the rubber cap back on. Loosen the spring by unscrewing the two brackets. Check the correct position of the spring on the plate. Attach the shock absorber to the upper support and then to the lower one according to the specified tightening torque. Refit the brake hose bracket and then the wheel with the wheel cover.
