How to replace the diesel fuel filter in a Subaru Impreza.
Model: Subaru Impreza
MK 2
- Years 2001-2007
In this video tutorial, we can see how it is possible to replace the diesel filter in a Subaru Impreza. The first thing to do is to lift the engine hood, secure it with a proper rod, and disconnect the negative battery cable and the two connectors on the right. Using a 12 mm socket wrench, we need to unscrew the two bolts that connect the pump to the support. Remember to disconnect the connectors from the support before removing the pump assembly. Protect the engine with a cloth; to unscrew the diesel filter, we can use a specific oil filter strap wrench. Once the filter is empty, it can be unscrewed from the pump; next, we need to remove the plastic cover from the new filter and lubricate the new O-rings with clean engine oil. The next step is to reassemble everything, so we need to screw the new filter onto the priming pump (tighten by hand and not with a wrench). The last step: by operating the priming pump, we fill the new filter (starting the engine with an empty filter could damage the high-pressure injector pump).
