How to disassemble the transmission of the Toyota Land Cruiser

Today we will explain how to dismantle the transmission of the Toyota Land Cruiser. To carry out the removal, we need to park the vehicle on level ground and engage the handbrake. For added safety, we disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and lift the car, placing it on jack stands; we remove the spare tire located under the compartment for more space. We place a container under the radiator, remove the driveshaft half-shaft by unscrewing the bolts of the rear wheel and half-shafts. We disconnect the CV joints from the differential gearbox so that we can open the valves of the coolant reservoir of the radiator. We disconnect the speed sensors, gearbox sensors, and ECT actuator. We remove the tunnel by disconnecting the wiring of the gear lever. To remove the transmission, we need to unscrew the bolts that connect the engine block and gearbox, first unscrewing the brackets and then disconnecting the bearing supports. We position a jack to support the transmission and remove the bolts of the engine-gearbox interface, applying light taps with a plastic lever to slide the transmission downwards. We remove the transmission to subsequently check the clutch, flywheel, seals, and so on, and then execute the reverse procedure.
